Traditional romanian food (I hope it is) for reasonable prices. The prices of main dish were about 15 lei.

Food is good but the attention paid by the lady who waited on us was better. She took the time to advise us on the menu.

It seems like one of those restaurants that used to be ok. Red wine in a small bottle, Oprișor, avoid it. Horrible. I had the spinach. It reminded me of what I grew up with but too heavy on the sauce and too little spinach. My opinion.

Recommended as one of the tradition-keeping establishments, Varzaria is a simple and unimpressive place - until you have a Goulash and/or Cluj Cabbage dish; the flavor is simple yet very tasty, filling the air and starting the appetite before you take the first bite.For some Transilvanian flavors this place must definitely be visited.

Limited options on menu when we arrived (only choice of two dishes).Food arrived cold but when you're hungry, you don't become picky. Staff was friendly though but you won't find the best meals in Cluj here.

Wheelchairs people are welcome here to sit outside. The food is just ok and the staff are helpful to make a food choice. You have to pay for bread which they will put on each table without ordering. The prices are average. The price are ok compared to the middle of the old town.

Old school, but great food. A lot of the meals involve cabbage as the name of the place suggests. It's also one of the oldest restaurants in Cluj. Service is ok, we didn't have to wait too long since most of the cabbage dishes are already cooked. I recommend the vargabeles for desert, they do it pretty good.

The food is great. Varza a la Cluj, and Vargabéles are my favourite. But there are very few waitresses. They run a marathon.

The place is about waiting and frustration. Do not go there unless you have plenty of time to stare at the waitress with frustration. Better do not go there, it is not worth to even try!!!

The most disrespectful service I've ever had. We went with my friend to have a traditional dining experience and we received mistreatment from the waitress.First, she gave us the incorrect wine, we’ve tried to explain it but she opened anyway.Second, she brought us a wrong plate. When we complain about her face and manners wasn't the proper one.The manager came back to us with the new plate plans an awful dessert in the same time.The wine was undrinkable, we have decided to not pay for it and instead to receive an apology for the whole bad experience, the waitress close to the bottle of the wine with the intention to give it to us! And in the end, we have to pay for it.They don't deserve any guest more!

Good old school(comunist) Romanian restaurant. Very good food, accessible prices. Full of elderly people nostalgic about the past comunist Era :)

This is a great place to taste traditional Cluj cuisine at a great price. The place is very communist if you want to experience the pre-1989 Romania. The wait times are not the greatest but the staff is really friendly, the waiter asked us during every meal if the food was fine and got feedback from us on the way, that shows that they care about the food they make and their clients.You will eat great food and you will be full! One main meal is enough for most people so you're going to have to be a brave one to also order dessert, or another dish. Will you regret ordering so much food? Maybe. Will it be tasty? For sure!

Has a certain nostalgic "old Socialism" feel, typical for poverty stricken areas. The food seems good, I had the plant based cabbage rolls (sarmale vegetale).

This is a popular place! A young guy with an underage look sweating like a slave between the tables with hungry and unhappy customers. The big screen tv is set by the management to a propaganda channel of an internationally searched polit-mafioso. But hey, if you have patience and no scruples, the food is modestly good and cheap. Please tip the poor guy.

Atmosphere from the 1990s. Varza a la Cluj is really good the others are mainstream in large portions. There is nothing special about the place. it is a bit overhyped

As the name suggests, this place is for cabbage (varzărie = cabbagery). The a la Cluj cabbage is one of the best tasting dishes in this place. It is also moderately priced, not being too expensive, but also offering somewhat of a premium feel. The drinks are quite cheap as well.A perfect place for a Sunday lunch with your family or friends.

Fantastic dishes, super price, old fashioned restaurant and waiters, super nice. Every single time we are in Cluj we eat here several times. All the typical food with cabbage and sour cream, bean, smoked ham and cottage cheese. 101% recommended!

Traditional location, which serves all kind of classic Transylvanian dishes. Portions are reasonable dimensioned at a good price. Service is quite fast and friendly.Lately I got some chicken legs, which were not grilled properly. Returning it to the kitchen is not a problem. After a few minutes the dish returned, properly grilled...

Staff never smile :) .... but good food and decent prices.
